Narragansett Bay Commission Combined Sewer Overflow, Phase I
The Jacobs Associates/Gilbane Building Company Joint Venture has served as the construction manager for all of Phase I’s shafts and tunnels. The Joint Venture, reporting to the Louis Berger Group as program manager, has provided resident engineering, office engineering, and inspection services. Pre-construction services included completing a constructability review of the design documents, finalizing the construction management manual, and evaluating contractor bids.
The owner broke the project into ten smaller construction contracts in order to encourage participation by local construction companies. This approach proved successful largely due to the coordination efforts of the construction management Joint Venture.
