Fisher Winery Storage Caves
00Location: Santa Rosa, California
00Owner: Fisher Vineyards
00Client: Nordby Wine Caves
00This project consisted of an open-cut shaft and mined storage tunnels. The 24 foot deep shaft was constructed for stair access between wine storage caves and a winery building. The shaft's location in massive, weathered rock with few fractures allowed Jacobs Associates to specify a shaft cut designed at 0.25H:1V in rock and 1H:1V in soil, with no support necessary in the temporary condition. In the tunnels, Jacobs Associates was responsible for design of tunnel support at a 4-way intersection in weathered tuff. Support at the intersection consisted of thickening the 2 inch shotcrete lining by 4 inches and adding welded wire fabric reinforcement.
