00This project involved construction of a residential wine cave for barrel storage in Napa California. Jacobs Associates evaluated geologic and geotechnical conditions for the construction of the wine cave and portal, as well as assisting with CalOSHA classification necessary for obtaining the tunneling permit. The finished cave is 50 feet in length and approximately 12 feet wide by 12 feet high constructed in volcanic materials (welded tuff). The tunnel was excavated by roadheader and lined with shotcrete.
