00Jacobs Associates is providing oversight of tunnel inspection, establishing criteria for remedial work, and consulting on repair alternatives. Built in the 1950's as one of the major highway crossings of the Koolau Mountains between Honolulu and the windward coast of Oahu, the Wilson tunnel is comprised of twin tunnels, each carrying 2-lane traffic with a roadway width of 24 feet. The tunnels are about one-half mile in length and have a semi-transverse ventilation system. Groundwater leakage has been persistent for many years. The current work for Wilson Tunnel improvements is to remediate tunnel lining cracks and leakage and improve wall finishes.
