00Design services for the projects consisted of preparing a work plan that covered both design and construction issues; performing a preliminary survey of the Esmeralda Tunnel; having a design representative on-site during construction to quickly resolve issues and to record progress on the project; and preparing a final as-built record for the tunnels. Construction consisted of replacing rotted timber sets; installing supplemental sets between existing sets; replacing rotted flowboards on the ribs and portions of the invert; and clearing large debris and rebuilding transitions between lined and unlined portions of the tunnels.
