00During the planning stage, Jacobs Associates conducted the preliminary studies to evaluate the feasibility of constructing portions of the pipeline as tunnels. Four potential tunnel alignments were reviewed and evaluated on the basis of constructability, construction costs and schedule. Assessments of mechanized excavation methods, including Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) and roadheaders, as well as the identification of environmental and community impacts from the tunnel construction were also performed. The findings of the study, including rationale for the pros and cons of the different alignments, are described in the "Tunnel Constructability, Cost, and Schedule Report" prepared for Camp Dresser, & McKee as part of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process.
