00The East Bay Municipal Utility District selected a team of Camp Dresser McKee, Carollo Engineering, and Jacobs Associates to complete design on this $58 million project. Passing through Walnut Creek and Alamo to supplement existing transmission pipelines, approximately 5 miles of 69-inch diameter water conveyance pipeline are being placed in a 10-foot diameter tunnel excavated by tunnel boring machine. A new pumping plant with approximately 112 MGD capacity, and flow control modifications of the existing treatment plant, will help meet higher demands.
00Jacobs Associates provided full service tunnel design for the central section of the water pipeline. Additionally, Jacobs Associates is responsible for plans, specifications and estimating documents for the tunnel and the six microtunnel and jack and bore undercrossings, ground classification, groundwater studies, and all aspects of the underground work. The project is currently under construction.
