00During the planning phase, the team, partnering with City staff, conducted an alternatives evaluation that considered impacts to and the interests of project stakeholders. The team ranked 30 different horizontal and vertical alignment alternatives and potential shaft sites and provided an objective evaluation of factors including technical and environmental criteria, schedule constraints, potential construction delay factors, and operation and maintenance considerations. Jacobs Associates provided engineering support for the preparation of an award-winning Environmental Impact Report (EIR). For final design, in addition to the tunnel design, the team’s services included digitized mapping, geotechnical and seismic evaluation, real estate acquisition, community outreach, odor control, and the preparation of specifications and contract documents. |
