00Jacobs Associates provided key technical design and engineering services for the new facilities, which are required to assure continued operation of the outlet following a major earthquake. The project includes a new outlet tower, a new outlet tunnel and shaft to facilitate the connection between the new outlet tunnel and the existing outlet tunnel, as well as an underwater approach channel to convey water to the new tower. The project also includes short connector tunnels extending from the shaft to the existing outlet tunnel, a stub tunnel for future connection of the shaft to a new tunnel and a cofferdam around the site of the new tower. Contractor J.F. Shea constructed the facilities.
