00The tunnels pass through granite, gneiss, and marble rock formations. Ground conditions in the tunnels are anticipated to range from massive, hard, strong and abrasive rock to very blocky and seamy rock and crushed ground. In addition, the tunnel alignments cross active splays of the San Andreas Fault in three locations, where sheared rock and raveling/squeezing ground is anticipated. Near the portals, much of the rock is weathered and sheared.
