00Approximately 2,900 feet of the pipelines will be installed as a bundle inside a 54-inch casing that will be installed using microtunneling methods. The installation of the carrier pipe bundle must be carefully controlled to maintain the grade of the 10-inch disposal pipeline. Approximately 1,500 feet of the 10-inch disposal line will be installed separately using pilot tube microtunneling methods. Microtunneling methods are being used to avoid disturbance to surface facilities along the alignment such as Union Pacific Railroad’s mainline tracks, UP’s Container Terminal Facility, and Commonwealth Edison’s transmission lines.
