00EBMUD supplies water to approximately 1.2 million people in Alameda and Contra Costa County. The water comes from a 577 square mile protected watershed along the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada. The raw water is collected within the Pardee and Comanche Reservoirs and is delivered via the Mokelumne Aqueduct. In 1994, the EBMUD Board of Directors approved a 10-year, $105 million seismic improvement program. The objective of the program is to minimize damage to the District’s facilities and to protect their customers from long, disruptive water outages following a catastrophic seismic event.
