Linear Schedules for Tunnel Projects
Abstract
Tunneling projects lend themselves to the use of linear schedules for planning, executing, and monitoring the progress of tunnel work. However, construction contracts generally require designers, construction managers, and contractors to use critical path scheduling (Critical Path Method) techniques. The techniques used in creating linear schedules and their benefits for planning, investigating alternatives, determining cost/time benefits of multiple heading, and evaluating actual performance will be presented.
