Frank Pita, PE, LHG, F. ASCE, DGE
Principal
Frank Pita has 30-plus years of experience with complex geologic and heavy civil engineering projects. He is an expert in soil mechanics and heavy civil shoring, and has substantial experience on rail projects. His experience includes serving as geotechnical designer and construction geotechnical manager for Union Pacific Railroad on an emergency repair for the Great Salt Lake Causeway and as design manager for deep foundations for four bridges being replaced by Burlington Northern Santa Fe in Renton Washington and one bridge in Sandpoint, Idaho. Mr. Pita also worked on a major landslide repair required to reopen HW 101 for the Oregon Department of Transportation. The project required three different types of retaining structures to fit differing site conditions. He also designs shoring plans and dewatering submittals for several Northwest contractors, including Designed Groundwater Services, Granite Construction Company, SCI Infrastructure, RCNW, and Scarsella Brothers.
Mr. Pita is an active member of several national committees sponsored by engineering organizations, and he has published over 20 technical papers on civil and geotechnical engineering topics. He holds professional licenses in the states of Alaska, New York, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington, and Oregon. He is a licensed professional geologist in Idaho and a licensed hydrogeologist in Washington, and he recently obtained his diplomate, geotechnical engineering credential. Mr. Pita holds two MS degrees, one in civil engineering from Oregon State University and another in geology from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned his BA in geology from the State University of New York.
