Daniel E. Kass, PE

Principal

Mr. Kass has 35 years of construction-related experience, more than 25 of which were spent analyzing construction performance problems associated with contract disputes. With this expertise, he spearheads the construction claims group at Jacobs Associates. He is also the chief financial officer. On dispute-related assignments, he is an acknowledged authority, responsible for preparing construction schedules and cost estimates, analyzing cost records and construction methods, reviewing contract documents, and preparing reports. He has provided expert testimony on numerous occasions and has served as a court appointed referee, project neutral and 3rd party independent reviewer on projects involving performance and contract disputes.

Recent projects include Boston’s Big Dig; several multi-million-dollar highway and transit projects, which include the Ventura Freeway reconstruction, the Redwood Park Bypass highway, and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station and extension projects; and several bridge projects, including the Richmond/San Rafael Retrofit Project. He has also worked on 10 airport related projects at four major U.S. airports; more than 15 healthcare facility projects (ranging from hospitals to medical office buildings to skilled nursing facilities), many tunnels and pipelines, mid to high rise office buildings, large condominium and apartment projects, a university sports arena, five large convention centers, the reconstruction of a historic hydroelectric flume, a cement plant, hydroelectric powerhouses, and several school projects, including a school asbestos abatement and renovation project. This extensive experience with numerous facility types allows him to effectively sort through complex issues and provide suggestions for resolution.

Mr. Kass received a BS in civil engineering at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He is a registered professional engineer in California.
