William W. Edgerton, PE
Principal
William Edgerton serves Jacobs Associates as a principal and chairman of the board. His leadership experience and technical expertise, spanning a 40-year career, stem from hands-on field construction experience and a wide range of consulting and project team roles in engineering design, construction management, and construction claims. During his 20-plus years at Jacobs Associates, Mr. Edgerton has supervised the design of tunnel and deep cut-and-cover projects, developed and analyzed construction costs and schedules, and prepared feasibility studies. In addition, his field background as a construction project manager, combined with his extensive experience in analyzing the causes and effects of construction disputes, has formed a solid foundation for developing specifications that apportion risk in a fair and equitable manner.
Mr. Edgerton has provided a guiding hand to many of the firm’s large projects. He is the project manager for the General Consultant for Tunnels and Geotechnical Engineering on DC Water’s $2.6 billion Combined Sewer Overflow program, and was the Jacobs Associates principal in charge of the Gilbane/Jacobs Associates Joint Venture, providing construction management services for the recently completed $250 million Narragansett CSO Phase I program in Providence, RI. Other past projects include King County’s Brightwater Conveyance Tunnel, San Bernardino’s Inland Feeder, Los Angeles’ Northeast Interceptor Sewer, and Puerto Rico’s Tren Urbano subway.
Mr. Edgerton received his BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, and his MBA in Procurement and Contracting from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He has authored numerous professional papers on contract practices and specification development. He is a registered professional civil engineer in California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington.
