Jacobs Associates Welcomes Lead Associate Dean Brox
Jacobs Associates is excited to welcome Dean Brox, PEng, as a Lead Associate. Dean is based in Vancouver, BC, where Jacobs Associates has established its first Canadian branch office. He has 26 years of experience as a senior project and design manager for more than 600 kilometers of major tunneling and underground infrastructure projects around the world, including water, highway, rail, utility, pedestrian, and hydroelectric tunnels.
Dean has extensive experience with both shallow and deep tunnels in hard rock under high stress conditions, pressure tunnel design for water conveyance, and wide-span excavations/caverns for hydropower projects. He also has a thorough understanding of rock slope engineering for the assessment of stability and stabilization requirements for excavations in rock. In addition, Dean has provided expertise on behalf of insurers for accident and damage inquiries and on behalf of both owners and contractors for claims for underground works.
Dean specializes in underground facilities and tunnels for mining and hydroelectric projects and has performed numerous design and technical review services for such projects in Argentina, Canada, Chile, Greenland, Panama, and Peru. He is also highly experienced in the planning of site investigations and preparation of contract documentation for tunneling and underground projects.
