Jacobs Associates Promotes Rafael Castro to Principal
May 05, 2009 - Rafael Castro, PE, has been promoted to Principal. Mr. Castro has been involved in the underground engineering industry for 20 years on more than a dozen major tunneling projects on both the East and West coasts. His progressive experience includes design, construction management, and condition assessment for sewage, water-conveyance, and transit tunnels. Mr. Castro’s varied design-to-construction background provides experienced-based review of design concepts that reduces risk to project owners during construction. In addition, he has an extensive understanding of ground improvement techniques relevant to soft-ground tunnels and microtunnels. Such techniques include chemical grouting, compaction grouting, jet grouting, compressed air, and dewatering. As a Principal of Jacobs Associates, Mr. Castro is one of 12 senior technical leaders in the firm responsible for client satisfaction and for performing and supervising technical project work, including quality control. He is also Jacobs Associates’ Eastern Regional Manager. In this capacity, he is responsible for operation and growth, including marketing, recruiting, and supervision of staff.
