Disneyland Paris

Originally named “EuroDisney,” this theme park sits on a 2,000 hectare site in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. Construction began in 1988 and was completed in 1992. Construction cost of the original park was approximately US$2.9 billion. Built as a state-of-the art theme park, EuroDisney perfected the concept of other Disney theme parks.

A number of design changes were made during construction, some of which resulted in cost and schedule disputes. Jacobs Associates provided claims analysis and consulting for Torno-France, the construction contractor for the park’s “Frontierland.” The constructed works included many buildings, landscaping features (particularly Big Thunder Mountain), and amusement rides. Jacobs Associates investigated the project records, interviewed field and management personnel, and visited the job site. A detailed analysis was prepared and negotiation assistance was provided to the client.

Jacobs Associates’ efforts led to a successful resolution of cost and schedule disputes in an arbitration held in Paris.
